CRUMLIN STAR II 9-3 MOSSLEY II

Star II bounced back after last week's defeat to Lisburn II in emphatic style by beating Mossley II 9-3 win,and with player-manager Scully getting an incredible 5 goals, in a very comfortable win at Mallusk. Star started the brighter and earned a penalty after 10 mins when a mazy run by McNally saw him beat 6 players and when he looked like he was about to score his effort was blocked on the line by a defender's hand. Scully stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 1-0 to the Star. Star continued to dominate with Murphy and McNally beating players at easy and playing some nice football in the centre of midfield. It wasn't long before Star made it 2-0 when Scully won a free kick on the edge of the box and from the resulting free kick he cooly curled the ball round the wall to give the keeper no chance and make it 2-0. Mossley got straight back into the match when a spectular shot beat Mezza in nets and make it 2-1. Despite that set back Star continued to play some nice football and got a third when Mc Nally released Osboure who rounded the advancing keeper to make it 3-1. The Star's midfield of Cairns McNally Murphy and (D)Murray were playing well and creating plenty of chances for the front two. Star should have scored when a nice move down the right involving McNally, Murphy and (S) Murray saw Murphy put in a dangerous cross however Cairns shot went somehow mide from 5 yards. Just before half time Star scored 2 quick goals that saw Scully sealed his hat trick and later his fourth of the game by beating the keeper with ease twice when through on goal.

H/T 5-1

Second half started the same as the first with Mallon Curry and (S) Murray limiting any Mossley chances and Scully sealing his fifth goal of the game when he was put clear on goal by Cairns and put Star 6-1 in front. Star took their foot off the pedal and were punished when Mossley scored two quick goals to reduce the deficit and give them some hope of making a comeback. However Star soon upped the tempo with Osboure getting his second of the game after blasting the ball into the roof of the net. Cairns also got a brace with his second being the pick as he beat 3 defenders and the keeper to score his second and Star ninth goal of the game.
