Crumlin Star 3-0 Lisburn Rangers
On Tuesday night the Star played Lisburn Rangers under the floodlights at Solitude. In a much changed side from Saturdays win over Ballinamallard the Star still bossed the game from start to finish with Lisburn only managing one meaningful shot on target all game. Sean Brown opened the scoring in the 25th minute which was out of the top drawer, after the Star played a bit of keep ball out on the left Savage then squared the ball to Brown on the edge of the area and with a first time shot he bent the ball into the far corner to give the Star the lead. Soon after it was 2-0 when Ciaran Murphy broke clear and brilliantly lifted the ball over the keeper to double the Stars advantage. After the break the Star kept possession in the Lisburn half for long periods without creating too many clear cut chances but as the game wore on it only looked a matter of time before the third goal came. McLarnon, O'Neill & McKervey were all rested and came on in a triple substitution on the hour to breath more life into the Stars attack and ten minutes later the killer goal came when McKervey picked out O'Neill from a corner for the big striker to head home from the penalty area. With that win the Star now move into second place in the league with five games in hand.
On Saturday the Star are away to Downshire in the Clarence Cup, Kick off 1:30pm. Ciaran Murphy was excellent upfront against Lisburn Rangers
