CRUMLIN STAR 6-2 ALBION STAR The star moved up to second place in the league on Saturday with a comfortable victory over Albion Star. Goals from Devenny (2) P.Brown (2) Mooney and Micky Hawkins sealed an easy win at Mallusk. The first goal came after 25 minutes when a quick free kick from O'Reilly found Mooney at the edge of the area and the little winger flicked the ball into the path of Devenny and the big sticker slotted the ball home to break the dead lock. Soon after it was 2-0, McConnell drove a low cross into the box which was brilliantly dummied by Braniff for Paul Brown and the little stricker curled the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. H/T 2-0 The second half was again dominated by the Star from start to finish and it wasn't long before they were creating chances again. In all honestly ther were too many chances to write about but one effort from Ciaran Reid deserved a mention after he rattled the bar from 20 yards with his weaker left foot. But Albion couldn't hold out for much longer as Devenny calmly rounded the keeper to make it three. Brown made it four in the 70th minute after again being set up by Braniff. Hawkins came of the bench to make it five after some good work from Mooney and Mooney himself made it six after drifting past four players and slotting the ball past the wrong footed keeper. Albion did get a couple of consolation goals but in truth were givin a football lesson by the Star. TEAM: O'Dwyre (5) O'REILLY (5) B Mooney (6) Keenan (6) Nellis (6) McConnell (5) Reid (7) Braniff (8) Mooney (8) Devenny (7) P Brown (8) SUBS: McNeill (5) Hawkins (6) Murphy (6)
