Crumlin Star 1-0 Mossley YM

Yet again the Star played on Friday night under the bright lights of Solitude as they faced Mossley in a league encounter.
The Star got of to the best possible start when Ciaran Reid found space in the box and fired the Star into a 1-0 lead from an acute angle.
The Star then failed to push on from their bright start as the players seemed to take their foot of the gas. Mossley almost equalised with a rare attempt on goal when a a deep in-swinging cross left Thompson in goal stranded but luckily came of the top of the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

H/T 1-0
The second period was much the same as both sides cancelled each other out as goal scoring chances came few and far between. The Stars back four of McDowell, Berne, Burns & McAlea where on top of their game as Mossley failed to even force Thompson into any kind of save as they dominated their counterparts. Mooney, Campbell & youngster Todd came on midway through the half to try and spice things up for the home side but found the Mossley number one in fine form. As time ran out in the game the Star pushed for the elusive killer second goal as Gormley & Brown where once again denied by the Mossley keeper. With the game finishing 1-0 the Star are just happy for the 3 points at this stage of the season with only 8 games remaining and with a 5 point cushion over their nearest rivals it's all in their hands.
Next week the Star are away to 18th Newtonabby Old Boys in a league fixture.

Hawk the gaffer was happy with the 3 points in the end!
