THE STAR START OF THE NEW SEASON WITH SOME OUTSTANDING RESULTS

Crumlin Star have got off to the best possible start in their new surroundings of Intermediate football with some outstanding results in their first three game's, running out victors 8-0, 9-0 and 10-1 respectively. In their opening fixture the Star faced 18th Newtonabby in the Steel & Sons cup at Richardson Park. After 18th went down to ten men in the first half the was only going to be one winner and goals from Joe Gormley (3) Paul Brown (2) Chris Devenny, Sass McConnall and one from new signing Jim Campbell sent the Star through to the next round.
The next game was a league fixture which pitted the promoted side against the relegated team from last season. Again the Star dominated from start to finish and ran out convincing winners against a poor Civil service side 9-0, scorers on the day where Paul Brown (3) Joe Gormley (3) Dam Whelan (2) with Chris Devenny & Sass McConnall getting a goal apiece each.

On Saturday the Star faced Bangor Amateurs at home and once again ran out convincing winners 10-1. In a pretty one sided affair the star made it two wins from two in division 1C and sit firmly at the top of the table with 19 goals in 2 games. The scorers against the Amateurs where Sean Brown (3) Joe Gormley (2) with P Brown, McConnall, Reid, O'Reilly & Campbell netting a goal each. Campbell has fitted in superbly since his move from Newington and with other players such as Paul Byrne and Conor McDowell still to make their debuts the future is looking extremely bright for the Star.

For the next month or so the Star will be playing their home games at Richardson Park, home of Iveagh United until work has commenced at Solitude where the Star will be playing for the whole of next season on Cliftonville's new 4G playing surface.

The Star's next fixtures are Bloomfield at home in a league fixture on Tuesday night and then away to Nortel on Saturday in the Steel & Sons cup.
