                                           Kilkeel 0-5 Crumlin Star

The Star eased through to the next round of the County Antrim Junior Shield when they demolished a Kilkeel side that that never really liked like troubling the Star at any stage during the game. Goals from Ciaran Reid, Sean Brown, Paul Brown and a Joe Gormley brace sent the Ardoyne side through to the second round where they'll meet West Belfast outfit St Pauls at Mallusk playing fields. The opening stages of the game was a bit of a scrappy affair with both sides giving the ball away carelessly and not much football being played. The only time the home side really troubled the Star was with long balls into the box but central defenders Keenan & Burns where more than a match for them. Joe Gormley had the Stars first real effort on goal as he let fly from 25 yards out only to be denied by a brilliant save from Kilkeel's keeper. From the resulting corner the home side's defense fell asleep and let Ciaran Reid & Mark Mooney work a short corner with Reid cutting in and driving his shot underneath the keeper to put the Star ahead in the 10th minute. Joe Gormley kept his fine goal scoring run going when Mark Mooney beat two defenders out on the wing and put the ball on a plate for the younghit man as he calmly side footed the ball in of the post to make it 2-0 to the Star. Captain Sean Brown made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time when the ball fell to big Micky Keenan in the box whoBrazilian like back heeled it to Brown who drove the ball home from 5 yards out.
H/T 0-3
The second half was the same storey as the Ardoyne side dominated all aspects of the game which could've seen them hit double figures only for some slack finishing. Paul Brown marked his return to the side with a fine goal on the hour when he broke the ofside trap and cheekily walk round the stranded keeper and fire the ball home to put the game well beyond the home side. O'Rielly replaced Mooney soon after to give the energetic winger a rest and he wasted two guilt edge chances straight away when it looked easier to score. Joe Gormley rounded of the scoring for the day when he rose highest from a corner to nod in his second of the day. The Star had chances to add to their tally but misses from Brown, O'Reilly and Whelan kept the scoreline the same. Next week the Star are away to County Fermanagh to face Balinamallard United Reserves in the second round of the Junior Cup. Anyone supporters wishing to with the team on the coach will have to meet at the Star at 10:15am and it will cost £5.
