CRUMLIN STAR II 4 - 0 ABBEY VILLA Star II's maintained their good form with a convincing win against a previously unbeaten Abbey Villa side. Star made a few changes with (S) Murray and Quail coming back into the starting line up to replace the unavailable Mc Mullan and O'Halloran. Star started the match strongly and were ahead in the 5th minute when Doyle broke free and blasted the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards. Moments later Star were 2 goals up when Cairns was clear on goal only to be brought down and Star were awarded a penalty. Mc Nally stepped up however his penalty was saved but he got to the loose ball to finished well into the bottom corner. Star's defence of (S) Murray, Collins, Hawkins and O'Neill were playing very well and Abbey Villa were finding it tough to create any chances. Star were playing some good football and should have been 3 up when (S) Murray cross was headed over by Quail who should have done better. Abbey Villa gradually came into the game as Star switched off and were under pressure as the half drew to a close. H/T 2-0 Star's front duo of Toner and Doyle were working hard and creating problems with the midfield of Cairns, Gormley, Mc Nally and Quail were passing the ball well and supporting them. Mc Coey replaced Quail and moments later a Mc Coey pass found Mc Nally and he squared for Cairns who drilled his shot past the keeper to put Star 3 goals up. Murphy then replaced Toner with (D) Murray replacing Gormley. Micky Hawkins saw his 35 yard shot crash against the bar as Star pressed for a fourth goal. Star got a fourth when Mc Nally hit a brilliant 25 yard shot into the top corner. Star's management were delighted with the win. F/T 4-0 Starman: M Hawkins Hawk: Man of Match on Saturday
