CRUMLIN STAR II 6 - 0 KILMORE REC II Star II's got their first win of the season with an emphatic 6-0 win over Kilmore Rec II at Mallusk. Star were boosted with the return of Doyle, Cairns, Hawkins and (J) Gormley to their squad and started the brighter of the 2 sides with the pace of (J) Gormley and Doyle causing the Kilmore backline immediate problems. (J) Gormley should have opened the scoring after being sent clear on goal but his shot went wide of the goal. Keeper Mc Neill was having a great game and saved the Star from falling behind as he saved bravely after the Kilmore striker had raced clear on goal. This was a wake up call for Star and (J) Gormley scored his first goal as he made no mistake this time after being put clear again and his low shot beat the keeper. Star pushed for a second however suffered a blow when (C) Gormley went off injured to be replaced by Quail. Star got their second goal when Mc Mullan headed past the keeper from a Cairns corner. Cairns and Clarke were both causing problems with their pace and trickery and Star went into the break 2 nil up. H/T 2-0 Star's defence were having a good game with Hawkins and Collins inparticular having good games with full backs Murray and Lizard pushing forward from full back. (J) Gormley was in terrific form with his skill and pace and he set up Doyle who finished well into the bottom corner. Mc Coey and Dillon replaced Clarke and Lizard and (J) Gormley got his second when he blasted the ball into the net from a Mc Mullan throw in. He got his hat trick minutes later when he lobbed the keeper from 25 yards after being put clear from a precise Quail pass. Doyle got his second when he scored a header from 12 yards from a Cairns cross. Star's management were delighted with the win and hoped for the same for the rest of the season. F/T 6-0 Starman: (J) Gormley Cairns: Had a good game after being moved into centre midfield
