Albion Star 1-2 Crumlin StarA lot of people have judged Micky Keenan as a one dimensional player who can only head the ball out of defence, but on Saturday the big centre half showed he's still a valueable player for manager Eamon Hawkins as he spared the Star's blushes with two late goals to keep the Star in pole position for the title. On a tight bobbly pitch the Star struggled to impose themselves on their already relegated opponents but still shouldv'e taken the lead early on when Sean Brown rattled the Albion post from a tight angle. Paul Brown was put through one on one by Anto Braniff on three occasion's but failed to add to 40 goal tally this season as he found the Albion keeper in fine form. The only problems Albion where causing the Star where long high kick outs from their keeper but the Star's defence held firm. H/T 0-0 Albion started the second half the brighter and took a deserved lead when another big kick out from their keeper caused a mix up between the defence and Thompson in goal as their striker nipped in and fired the home side in front. This was the kick up the back side the Star needed as they upped their game and started to put Albion under some real pressure. Barry McKervey, Paul Brown and Sean O'Reilly all had efforts well saved by the inspired Albion keeper. In the 75th minute McKervey swung in a low corner which beat everyone at the front post but Micky Keenan met it perfectly to bundle the ball over the line to bring the Star back to level terms. The Star then pushed for the winner as they knew it was there for the taking and from another Barry McKervey cross big Micky Keenan rose highest at the back post to put the Star in front with ten minutes to go. The Star seen out the remainder of the game with some fine defending as Albion never really looked like getting an equaliser.
