                         Cochrane & Corry Cup Final

             Crumlin Star 3-1 Immaculata

The Star won the Cochrane & Corry cup on Tuesday for the second year running with a hard fought victory over Immaculata. It was the Star's 4th final in 6 years while Immaculata had reached the final in their debut season in the Amateur league. With a strong wind behind them in the first half the Star created the better chances with Sean Brown going close with a back post header when he really shouldv'e scored and Chris Devenny forcing the Mac keeper into a fine save. After a period of sustained pressure the Star where awarded a penalty when Paul Brown was hauled down by the Immaculata keeper, up stepped the skipper Sean Brown to try to put the Star in the driving seat but his tame penalty was easily saved by the Mac keeper. As the half came to a close the Mac gradually got into the game with a couple of quick counter attacks but the sides remained level at half time.
H/T 0-0
With the strong wind and heavy rain now in the Star faces the Star had to dig deep to stay in the game as the elements restricted any type of good football to a minimum. On the hour mark the Star broke the dead lock when a simple ball over the top from Sean O'Reilly caught the Mac defence square and Chris Devenny ran through to slot the ball home to send the large Star support into raptures. Immaculata responded well and put the Star under some pressure straight away then got a deserved equaliser when O'Riordan headed home from a corner. The same player thought he'd won it for the Mac with 10 minutes remaining but his effort was ruled out for offside. With time running out the Star won a corner and was swung in by Ciaran Reid which caused mayhem in the 6 yard box, the ball fell to the unmarked Devenny and the big striker forced the ball over the line to put the Star 2-1 up. The Mac then threw everything at the Star but the Ardoyne side held firm and deep into injury time the Star hit them on the break and Paul Brown fired the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area to win the cup for the Star.
4/4/2009 Groomsport 1-4 Crumlin Star
The Star put in an excellent performance against a strong Groomsport side. Goals from  Sean Brown, Joe McAlea and Paul Brown (2) secured the 3 points for the Ardoyne side.
11/4/2009  Crumlin Star 2-0 Ford
There was no cup hang-over for the Star as they kept on course for a league and cup double. The Star found themselves 2-0 up after 20 minutes with goals from Paul Brown and Barry McKervey. It could've been a lot better for the Star before half time but Chris Devenny missed 3 one on ones with the keeper. Ford came out fighting in the second half but never really troubled the Star as the 3 points where never really in doubt.
