Bangor Swifts 0-5 Crumlin StarAfter last weeks dismal performance against Malachains the Star where eager to get back to winning ways against a very good Bangor Swifts side. Right from the kick off the Star showed that they meant business as they were winning their mini battles all over the pitch. The first chance of the game fell to Sean Brown who fired wide from inside the area. But the Star weren't to wait much longer for the break through as Ciaran Reid found Mark Mooney with a pin-point cross and the little striker fired the ball past the helpless Bangor keeper to put the Star in front. Sean O'Reilly then wasted two golden opportunities when he raced through twice in the space of five minutes but fluffed both chances. Mark Mooney then got his second of the day when he turned neatly inside the area and blasted the ball home to double the Star's advantage. Joe McAlea then found himself one on one with the keeper soon after but could only manage to force the keeper into a good save as the Star where dominating. Micky Keenan then popped up with a rare goal when he rose highest from a Reid corner to nod the Star into a 3-0 lead. It was nearly 4-0 just before half time when Anto Braniff nipped in at the back post to head home but he was judged to be in an off-side position when looked miles on. H/T 0-3 Manager Hawkins wanted more of the same in the second half and that's what he got as the Star again dominated for long periods of the game. Ciaran McCoey was having a fine game at right back as was the rest of the defence with Burns in particular as solid as a rock in the center back area. There was a bit of a debate for the fourth goal when Micky Keenan headed the ball onto the post and what looked over the line only for a Bangor defender to scoop the ball clear but Mark Mooney bundled over the rebound as both players claiming it was their goal. Hawkins then made a triple substitution with McKervey, McConnall and Nellis replacing Brown, Mooney and Keenan. There was definitely no Controversy about the fifth and final goal when McKervey dinked the ball over the stranded keeper with his first touch of the game as the Star ran out convincing winners. Next week the Star are at home to Ballywalter in a league fixture at Mallusk. Team: Thompson, McCoey, McAlea, Keenan, Burns, Reid, S.Brown, O'Reilly, Braniff, P.Brown, Mooney Subs: McKervey, McConnall, Nellis Mark Mooney scored a hat-trick on Saturday Big Micky got on the scoring act too
