Crumlin Star II 2-2 Lisburn Rangers II

Star II and Lisburn played out a draw at Mallusk in terrible conditions. Mc Nally, Mc Coey, Cairns and Mc Alea came into the side from last week. With the strong wind at their backs Star started the brighter of the two sides however their final ball in the final third was lacking quality and the Lisburn keeper was rarely troubled. Star first chance came from a Mc Nally free kick that he hit disappointly over the bar. Lisburn had a few half chances that went wide but their forwards were kept quiet by Mc Coey, Mallon, Mc Alea and Gormley. Star were forced into an early change when the injured Cairns was replaced by Teer. Teer went straight into the action and hit a shot that just went wide of the post. Star had more chances with Murray shooting wide from 20 yards and Mc Coey having 2 long range efforts saved by the keeper. With half time approaching, the ball bounced 25 yards from goal and Mc Nally sweetly stuck a half volley into the top corner to give Star the advantage. H/T 1-0

Playing into the strong wind and with the weather getting worse, Star faced a difficult challenge in the second half. Mc Veigh made a fanastic save on 55 minutes to keep Star in the lead. Toner and Doyle up front battled well to give the Star defence some rest with Hagans protecting the back four very well. Lisburn with the aid of the strong wind had Star under pressure however the some good defending and goalkeeping kept Star in the lead. Scully brought on Mc Mullan for Murray to freshen up his side however Lisburn equalised from a corner after some slppoy defending. Hawkins then replaced Hagans and with 15 minutes to go Teer squared for Mc Mullan to tap in to put Star 2-1 up. Lisburn pushed for an equaliser and with the very last kick of the game they got it when their midfielder hit a shot that gave Mc Veigh no chance. F/T 2-2
