Ballywalter 0-3 Crumlin StarCrumlin Star kept their superb run going when the notched up their 12Th straight win on Saturday. Goals from Mark Mooney, Paul Brown and one from Brendan Mooney sent the Ardoyne men 5 points clear at the top of the table. Before the game Manager Hawkins didn't have much to say in his team talk because his players where already fired up for a revenge mission on the team that cost them the title last season. Facing a blinding sun in the first half you'd have thought the Star would've been up against it but it was the other way about. Right from the off the Star dominated the game, creating chances at will and pinning their counterparts into their own final third for long periods. Paul Brown brought the best out of the Ballplayer keeper with a fine effort and Mark Mooney also seen his fine shot well saved too. Chris Devenny was having a fine game on his return from injury winning a lot of headers for his strike partner to feed of. The Star took a deserved lead when Mark Mooney cut in from the right wing and fired a low drive into the bottom corner giving the Ballywalter keeper no chance. Soon after it was 2-0 when Paul Brown raced through and went round the Ballwalter keeper then through a magnificent dummy to let the the last defender slide by him and he cheekily walked the ball over the line. Star continued to dominate the rest of the half but Ballywalter hung on to keep the score at 2-0. H/T 0-2 The second half was more of the same as the Star created chances at will, Bra niff, Reid and Nell is all went close with some fine efforts while Thompson in goal was a spectator for most of the game. Nell is then hit a post when he bravely won a 50-50 with the home keeper but Brendan Mooney finally killed the game of with a fine header from a Ciaran Reid corner. McKervey and McConnall came on to add some fresh legs to the Star attack but the score remained the same as the Star ran out comfortable winners in the end.
