                                  Crumlin Star 6-1 Albion Star

On Saturday the Star blew away Strugglers Albion Star with a comprehensive 6-1 victory. A hat-trick from Mark Mooney and solitary goals from Barry McKervey, Anto Braniff and James McNally moved the Star level on points with Derriaghy at the top of the table with the Ardoyne men playing one game less.
Right from the kick off the Star dominated the game as Devenny missed a glaring chance after only 30 seconds. This was to be the storey of the half for the Ardoyners as the missed chance after chance.
The dead lock was finally broken on the half hour when Mooney turned his marker at the edge of the area and fired his shot into the bottom corner to give the Star a deserved lead. Again the Star where guilty of missing more guilt edge chances as McKervey and Reid were put through one on one  to double the Star's lead. McKervey eventually did double his teams lead when he curled a wonder-full free kick into the top corner after he was brought down on the 18 yard line.
Against the run of play Albion nicked a goal before half time when a slip from Braniff gave away possession in midfield and with a quick break away the away side halved the Star's advantage .
H/T 2-1
The Star began the second half determined to kill the game of and that they did when Mooney was put through by the impressive Cairns and the little winger slotted the ball home through the keepers legs.
Again the home side missed guilt edge chances to put the game well beyond Albion so manager Hawkins introduced McConnal, McNally and Michael Hawkins to add some fresh legs.
In the 70th minute Mooney completed his hat-trick when Devenny flicked a header into his path and he volleyed home from the edge of the box to put the Star well beyond Albions reach.
Anto Braniff made it 5-1 to the Star with a towering header from a pin-point Ciaran Reid cross and the scoring was completed when James McNally broke away from an Albion corner and travelled the entire length of the pitch and coolly slotted the ball past the helpless Albion keeper to seal an emphatic win for the Star.
Top performers on the day where Mark Mooney and Ciaran Cairns who had an excellent game at left back.
