Crumlin Star 4-1 GlastonThe star entertained Glaston from B&D league in the second round of the Junior Cup at a sunny mallusk. With key players such as Braniff, Mooney, McKervey and Devenney all coming back into the side next week everyone wanted to perform well. The star got off to a flyer when then took the lead in the first minute, The ball was centred, O'Rielly found Paul Brown on the left who beat two defenders and curled a superb opener into the top corner. Glaston battled there way back into the match in a game which was turning into a very scrappy affair with both sides guilty of loosing possession far to easy, It was Glaston who took advantage of the poor star passing when when Reid was caught in possession at the half way and the visitors broke to level the game up at 1-1. Star replied with efforts from O'Rielly and S Brown but to no avail and it wasn’t until the final five mins that the star took the lead again, with P Brown latching on to Reids through ball to put the home side 2-1 up at the break. HT 1-1 After a stern talk from manager Hawkins the star came out the second half with a bit more urgency and hunger passing the ball about much better and creating more chances with the forward line of P Brown and S Brown working hard to make things happen. Glaston did however manage to create an opening only for Thompson to make a fine save to keep his side in front. The Star were starting to look more lively and creating more chances and it wasn’t long until the in form P Brown fired low into the bottom corner of the net for his hat trick and 14th goal in five games. Hawkins made changes with Mooney coming on for Mc Connell and Mc Nally for S Brown as they went in search of more goals. The star were dominating in possession and creating chance after chance and went ahead even more when o Rielly fired home from close range to make it 4-1 Glaston created a few chances off their own towards the end but the Stars solid defending kept the score at 4-1 and put them through to the next round. Next week the Star are away to 18th Newtonabby Old Boys for a league game.
