                                 Bangor Amateurs 0-12 Crumlin Star

The Star totally out played a Bangor Amateurs side on Saturday and could've scored a lot more goals than the 12 they managed to score. Straight from the off the Star dominated possession and created a host of early chances but failed to take any of them. But once Jim Campbell headed home the opener on  the half hour make the flood gates seemed to open. Within ten minutes of taking the lead the Star found themselves 4-0 up after McAlea, Reid & Gormley all found their scoring touch with some excellent finishes. Gormley got his second of the day just before the break when he brilliantly lobed the ball over the stranded Amateurs keeper to send the Star in 5-0 up at half time.

H/T 5-0

Again the second period was all one way traffic as the home side endured a torrid 45 minutes. Campbell got his second of the day soon after the restart when he fired home a Mooney cross. Gormley secured his hat trick minutes later when he refiled home a 25 yard screamer into the bottom corner and not long after he got his fourth of the game when he cheekily rounded the keeper and passed the ball into the empty net to make it 8-0 to the Star.Campbell chipped the keeper to score his first ever hat trick then Brown, Burns & McKinney all got on the scoring act to make it a resounding 12-0 to the Star.
Next week the Star are home to Iveagh United in a league fixture at Solitude, it will be the Star's first home game there and would like to see as many supporters as possible make the short trip over to Solitude. Kick Off 2:00pm.

Joe Gormley has netted 15 goals already this season.

After a great start to the season the Star came down to Earth with a bang with two defeats in a row. Its the first time in four years that the Star have suffered two consecutive defeats in a row and will no doubt make the team more determined to put things right in the forthcoming future. The first of the two defeats came against Bloomfield in a league fixture at Richardson Park. Bloomfield started the better of the two sides and took a deserved lead early on with a bullet of a header from their bigcentre half. Jim Campbell equalised soon after with a cool header from a great cross from Gareth O'Neill. It then looked a formality that the Star would push on a secure all the 3 points but a mistake from Nellis on the stroke of half time lead the visitors in at the break 2-1 up. The second half was mostly one way traffic as Bloomfield where happy to sit back and hit the Star on the counter attack, Gormley had the best chance of the game late on but scuffed his shot wide and wasted his chance to equalise.
The next game was away to Nortel which the Star also lost 2-1 but the Star managed to get back to winning ways after defeating Bangor Swifts 4-1. Match reports will follow soon.

RESHUFFLE OF THE SECOND TEAM MANAGEMENT!

Some disappointing news last week as last year's Second team manager Jim Hagans has decided to step down from his post after several successful years as assistant manager and last years very successful year as manager with the capture of the 3B title! Jim has other commitments at the moment and has decided to hand the side over to assisant manager Larry "Towser" Toner who was his assistant last year. Everyone at Crumlin Star FC would like to thank Jim for his hard work over the past few years especially the excellent progress of the second team last year. Jim gladly will still be part of the football club as he is retaining his position on the committee.

So the second team is now in the capable hands of Larry Toner who will no doubt progress the second team even more as they go into the very competitive league of 3A. Everyone would like to wish Towser the best of luck in the job!

Towser, on the far left, is taking over from Hagey, on the far right!
