SECONDS CRASH OUT OF TEMPLETON CUP!

The second team's unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end on Saturday when they suffered a 6-2 loss to fellow 3C side 18th Newtownabbey OB II. The loss also sees the second team go out of the cup which now leaves Scully's side to concentrate on the league and promotion and trying to maintain their unbeaten start in the league. The goals on Saturday came from Conor Osbourne and Brendy Hamiliton.

  FORD 0-3 CRUMLIN STAR

The Star went back to the top of 2A after clinical performance in Twinbrook

FORD 0-3 CRUMLIN STAR

The Star produced a stunning perfirmance in Twinbrook on Saturday to go back to the top of 2A. Goals from Barry Mc Kervey (2) and Devenny secured all 3 points for the league leaders. In the early stages of the game Ford showed their fighting spirit but it was the Star who looked more dangerous on the counter attack, Mc Kervey blazed over after being brilliantly put through by Braniff and Mc Connal wasting an early chance aswell. In the 2oth minute the deadlock was finally broken, after a short backpass from Smith in the Ford defence Devenny calmly lobed the ball over Mc Ahill in nets to give the Star a deserved lead. Soon after it was 2-0, after some good pressure from the Stars midfield the ball broke to Devenny in the corner and his cross was met by the oncoming Mc Kervey who headed home to double the Stars lead. H/T 0-2

The second half was totally dominated by the Star, the defence of O'Rielly, B Mooney, Keenan and Nellis limited Ford to one or two half chance while the Star looked as if they could score at any time. On the hour mark it was 3-0. Again the Star hunted down Ford in their own area and although Devenny's shot was saved by the keeper the ball fell to Mc Kervey and he made no mistake with his finish slotting the ball into the corner of the net. Quinn, Whelan and M Mooney replaced Keenan, Braniff and Clarke as the Star kept pilling on the pressure. Mark Mooney impressed on his debut with his pace and hard work ethic as he litrally ran Ford riot in the closing stages. Whelan and Reid both missed chances near the end but all in all it was a fine day for the Star.
